!!!ATTENTION!!!

IF YOU HAVE RECENTLY DONE A HEADLIGHT RESTORATION ON YOUR VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS PLEASE NOTE AFTER APPLYING DRAGON LAMINATES AND THEN REMOVING THEM, THIS MAY CAUSE THE ADHESIVE FROM UNDERNEATH THE FILM TO BOND TO THE CLEAR FROM THE HEADLIGHT RESTORATION AND MAY CAUSE IT TO COME OFF. DRAGON LAMINATES IS NOT RECOMMENDED WITH THE USE OF HEADLIGHTS THAT have BEEN PREVIOUSLY SHOT WITH CLEAR COAT PAINT. IF YOU CHOOSE TO INSTALL DRAGON LAMINATES ON YOUR HEADLIGHTS IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU FIRST REMOVE THE CLEAR COAT PAINT FROM YOUR HEADLIGHTS. A PROFESSIONAL STEAM GUN WORKS BEST WITH THIS OPTION.

Application Tips

Recognize the installation will take longer than five minutes and might test your patience if you are a beginner.

  • To avoid getting air bubbles under the laminate, ensure that overlapping strokes are used in application.
  • Pay attention to curves and contoured areas where bubbles tend to build up.
  • Take a small piece and play with it, heat up the laminate, pull on it to see how much pull and heat you will need to apply before starting. Gentle stretching may be necessary on contoured areas, DO NOT OVER HEAT OR OVER STRETCH LAMINATE.
  • When re-positioning is necessary, the film may be pulled back up gently. Be sure to spray light mist of water under film after pulling the Dragon Laminate back up.
  • Use Bottled water or Distilled water in a spray bottle to help if repositioning is needed.
  • Do in a controlled environment with a temperature range of 70F to 80F.
  • If working in a cold environment (under 70F) in order to achieve proper working temps, turn the headlights high beams on till warm to the touch, or use a Heat Gun or Hair Dryer to GENTLY warm the lights surface. Keep film warm in a warm location prior to install and use a space heater.
  • DO NOT USE any type of Rain X Glass cleaner or any other type of headlight cleaner prior to installation other than the prep solution described in the instructions. Laminate will not stick if headlight is waxed or anything other than water and after cleaning let the surface area dry prior to starting.

Prep

Both hands should be cleaned thoroughly. The first time you touch the headlight should be to clean it.  Use water and a lint-free towel to clean the light, clean the lens until the surface is clear of any dirt and dust. Prepare a spray bottle using 50% 70% Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol to 50% Water and mix them together. This is an extremely important step, any Grease, wax, tar and dirt left on the Headlight will be stuck under the headlight film after install and will prevent Dragon Laminates from sticking Properly.  Use Clay Bar instead of the water/alcohol solution mix if temperature is below 70 degrees F.

If you have to clean the lens heavily, use a Head light Restoration kit to remove any haziness and pitting that can cause air bubbles.

Installation

After the Light lens is cleaned thoroughly, you can begin your install.  Remove the clear backing off the adhesive side of the Dragon Laminates film.  Mist the lens with a small amount of water as well as the sticky side of the Laminate. This will allow the film to reposition easier during installation. Any contact with the adhesive should be kept to a minimal to prevent dirt and finger prints, fingers should always be kept wet while handling.

Start on the flattest part on the light and work toward the more difficult curved areas. Lightly tack the Dragon Laminates film to the lens and reposition as needed using water in-between pulling up.

After the Dragon Laminates film is lightly tacked to the surface of the lens and the positioning is correct, you are ready to squeegee the Laminate down.  Mist the top surface of the Laminate with water to create a lubrication layer for the squeegee applicator to glide over.  Start from the middle of the flattest part of the light and use smooth, sweeping strokes.  Slowly work your way to the edges of the film, making sure to push out all water and air toward the edges.  Use a Hair Dryer or Heat Gun to heat the film in difficult areas. The heat will help the Laminate in Curved/ Difficult areas making it more pliable for use.

Trimming the Laminate

After the headlight tint has been installed to the edges of the light, it is time to  pull the clear protective layer and trim.  The laminate comes with a protection layer that protects the laminate during installation from scratching

Trimming should be done in two steps: Excess removal and final trim.

Excess removal involves trimming off the large excess pieces of the install.  The final trim is most important:  score the film along the edge of the headlight. Pull away the Laminate away carefully.

Care & Maintenance

When caring for the laminates do not use anything abrasive or do not use harsh chemicals. Use a clean soft micro fiber towel and water with a little drop of dish soap and rinse off, dry off with a soft towel to avoid water spots.
